Watermelon Cocktail

Hot, hot, hot!  Summer’s here and nothing could be sweeter, or more refreshing, than a than a slice of watermelon.  Which got me thinking… That slice could be even more refreshing if I turned it into a cocktail. So that’s exactly what I did.   Here’s the simple and easy recipe: Purée enough watermelon cubes to yield 1/3 cup juice. I used a blender.  Strain. He said Colada? I said Why-not-a!

Happy National Pina Colada Day!  This is certainly a cause for celebration.  If you like Pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain – oh wait, the sun is shining today so I’ve dressed in SPF 50 for poolside sipping.  For a truly tropical taste, you must add fresh pineapple. The wavy design will flow nicely with the river as a backdrop. Cushions are being made and will soon be featured on the lanai at the FishHouse. One of the things I love about traveling is the fabric finds I discover. While fabric hunting in Naples, Florida, I […]

Ring in the New Year with Honeysuckle

By chance I, too, am ending 2010 infusing turquoise, yet I’m delighted to see that that my love of pink, or “honeysuckle,” is right in line for 2011.  Pantone has declared honeysuckle to be “a color for everyday, with nothing ‘everyday’ about it.”  With honeysuckle being ripe for the new year, pink cocktails and dresses will be in abundance.  As you dress for cocktails in the new year, what favorite pink drink will you be sipping?
